Inquisitive.

My 4th grade teacher once called me inquisitive on my report card. I remember being terrified to go home and show my parents because I had no idea what that word meant... and I certainly did not like the thought of its consequences! When I got off the bus, I ran home, grabbed the dictionary and hid in the bathroom with the fan on.

What a time to be alive, ay? *deep sigh*

I have been challenged in my course of ministry and education to go beyond myself. To experiment with living outside of my comfort zone. In this, the lesson is to inner-stand my insecurities, my fears, my conscious use of thought and isolation. And so… I decided to ask a question every day on my Instagram in order to learn more about others… and really how it is that I relate to everyone.

And in all these questions I have asked thus far… what I really ache to inquire about requires an astute conversation, I feel. One that cannot be answered in just 60 characters. You know?

For instance…

How can we resolve our addiction to violence? How do we break the separation of technology and restore our feeling of direct relationship? How can we fasten the ruptured segments of human nature? How do we lay to rest the pain of racism? How do we welcome and appreciate other views? How can we re-establish a clear and common sense of reality? How do we break historical narcissism and the egoic self-centeredness rampant in nearly every aspect of our lives? How can we reclaim our connection to everything larger than us? Do you even believe there is a larger connection? What is the purpose? What is life? Are you happy? What is Happiness? What is Love? What are you? A Human? A Soul? What is it to be human? What is it to be a Soul? Or… have a Soul? What is a Soul?

…What is a Soul? And why is that one question beneath all questions we ask?

Where do we truly begin?

In my writings here, I am attempting to bring us through the entire consciousness of the human. From the roots of our being into what is figural; from what we are experiencing within and what we are superficially observing in the physical. Where I am finding us in repetition is in this tiny morsel of truth:

Society is entrenched in some form of conditional love and unforgiveness.

I kept wanting to add different words to that… but those are the 2 deep wounds I am finding inside the un/consciousness that obviously balance out to be… Love vs. Fear.

The societal fractures of life / experience / relationship / love - has caused a great many of us to spin wildly and harshly out of control. Visions have lapsed, illusions are filled with prayers, inspirations and doubts are obstructed… Mistrust guides the helm and people are too intimidated, too sequestered to reach out and touch...

It’s so interesting -and tragic- that certain ‘World Events’ are taking place. When you look at the tapestry of humanity, you see that We are not the first society to break apart and come together. The human tribe has been here before time and time again. We are only but one iteration of existence.

And so... Where do we start? What needs to be repaired? What needs to be reimagined? And what needs to be left dismantled? These questions are always relevant, especially today... right?

I believe that living authentically requires continual repair … and time.

We are practicing being human. Wins and Losses are had. All the time. And it takes practice being where you are today. I’m sure you will agree to the notion that it has been a long road thus far. You know what I mean? I don't know about you... but I have earned my grey hair. In every place it sprouts. I have earned that! hahaha!

Seriously tho... we human tribe are resilient. Our hearts break time and time again. And each time we come back wiser, stronger, bolder... the Soul of Humanity is like the Phoenix, forever reincarnating into greatness... always rising. Just as the volcano remakes itself into a mountain… and a scorched, burned forest turns itself to Prairies and valleys… we too can transform. Albeit overwhelming and uncomfortable.

So here we are.

Here we are being asked to put aside our old hypocrisies and all the ways we have pushed each other away.

Here we are, being asked to be fierce and tender in our call to love each other until justice and healing are the same thing.

Where do we begin?

How can we participate in this remaking of humanity?

I think…

We begin...

With Remaking Ourselves. One heart at a time. One truth at a time.

One kindness at a time.
